RPF Building Sustainability Initiative
Smarter repairs. Stronger communities. Sustainable futures.
Building a greener future
At RPF Building, sustainability is becoming part of the way we work, plan and deliver repairs. We are taking practical steps to better understand and reduce our environmental impact while continuing to support strong communities, efficient operations and responsible outcomes for our clients, customers, subcontractors and team members.
Our sustainability initiative is focused on creating transparent, measurable and achievable improvements across our business. This includes tracking emissions, reducing waste, working towards paperless operations, improving energy efficiency, making more sustainable purchasing decisions and engaging our people in everyday environmental actions.
Our commitment to transparency
RPF Building is working towards greater transparency across Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions. We are embedding the carbon accounting platform Sumday into our business to provide a clearer and more accurate way to track, manage and report on our environmental impact.
As our reporting capability develops, we are planning to make emissions information accessible through Sumday and the RPF Building website, helping our stakeholders understand the progress we are making and the areas we are continuing to improve.
Office greening at Carrington
Our Carrington office is being developed as a benchmark for sustainable operations within RPF. Through our office greening initiative, we are aiming to reduce environmental impact while improving employee wellbeing, operational efficiency and supporting our ISO 14001 certification objectives.
Sustainable procurement and smarter choices
We are reviewing everyday purchasing decisions to prioritise products and suppliers that support better environmental outcomes. This includes preference for recycled content products, carbon-neutral delivery options, green certification, Australian-made products, eco-cleaning supplies, refillable kitchen items and energy-efficient appliances.
Our uniform changeover also includes an Australian designed and made focus, helping to reduce supply chain complexity while supporting local capability where possible.
Engaging our people
Lasting change comes from the actions of our people. RPF Building is working to make sustainability part of our culture by building baseline knowledge, including environmental awareness in staff inductions, and creating opportunities for employees to participate in practical sustainability initiatives.
We are also considering the creation of an employee environmental committee to help keep our team engaged, informed and active in shaping RPF’s sustainability journey.
Working with subcontractors
Scope 3 emissions are an important part of understanding our broader environmental impact. RPF Building is committed to working with subcontractors to support clear record keeping, improve awareness of environmental responsibilities and reduce the potential impact of works carried out across the communities we serve.
By improving record keeping and communication between RPF and our subcontractor network, we can continue to build relationships with trades who share our focus on smarter repairs and a greener future.
Recognising the challenges
We recognise that sustainability improvement is an ongoing process. Challenges such as technology and training costs, supply chain visibility, evolving policies, platform adoption and change management all need to be carefully considered. Our approach is to take practical, measurable steps while continuing to learn, adapt and improve.
Looking ahead
RPF Building’s sustainability initiative is about making meaningful progress, one action at a time. By combining transparency, practical operational improvements, employee engagement and stronger supply chain awareness, we are working towards a future where smarter repairs support stronger communities and more sustainable outcomes.
